Where is everybody? Over on S8 Forum, you can post a topic and get three replies within three hours, whereas here you're lucky if someone posts once in 24 hours.
This place is turning into a ghost town. Why the apathy? S8 Forum sure hasn't slowed down.

I noticed it too. I'm still around. Just haven't had much to talk about...
What other S8 Forum, the filmmaking in the digital age one?

BTW I bought a film scanner last week! This thing is real cool. I got tired of paying for the PhotoCD for my 35mm photographs and i swear the quality was beginning to slip. It's a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III. They go for about $300 and you load your negatives and slides in their and edit them in photoshop etc.
I wasn't thinking i was going to need anything of the sort until i realized i couldn't scan very well off the office scanner. For one, my plan was to start shooting Kodachrome slides and scan them but our scanner has a black backing and wouldn't do that very well. So i broke down and got one of these and i'm very pleased with the results.
However, i have been shooting Fuji Superia 800 film for concerts etc. and it looks terrible now that i can blow them up! Grain City! I experimented with some other pictures on 200 and it looks great. I did buy some 100 speed film today but I'm just going to stick with 200; maybe 400, but no faster!
Here's a few examples someone posted:

Hey Guys -
This place sure has been inactive lately. This is probably the first post I've made in months. I do still take a look every few days, but I don't post much any more. The reason is that this forum seems to have so many arguments, whereas the other forum is less prone to that. Just my opinion...
I also use a 35mm film scanner frequently. I have an old '72 Pentax Spotmatic manual camera that I love to use. To get really, really detailed pictures I usually use 50 or even 25 ASA film (Fuji Sensia or Velvia) and existing light. I have an older Nikon LS-2000 film scanner that nonetheless produces fabulous scans of my slides. I also use a Canon BJC-8200 color photo printer to print the good ones out. Slides are so much easier (and compact) to store that I prefer them to prints. Also, it seems to me that the photo developers these days make so many adjustments to your prints that you can't really tell if you took the picture correctly or not.
Anyway, enjoy your scanner!

I had what I thought was a good idea posted on a hot ticket subject regarding "low contrast Kodachrome," no one bothered to answer my last question. Why? Tired of the subject? Because I post on another board from time to time?? Maybe it's because we all took different sides on that politically charged "Airport Security" any ideas???
None of the above ?????

Maybe everyone is watching CNN. I dunno...
Sometimes the forum activity just slows down. Maybe folks are out shooting some film.

Hahah Cal
Sorry guys, I'm just digging myself out of a small rut lately and am now coming back to.
I'm sure the board will pick back up again, maybe we need to start a fight or something...oh the good ol' days
Hope all is well with everyone,
Scott
